This past May, H&M teamed up with Designers Against AIDS and various musical artists to create a new line dedicated to the fight against AIDS. (more…)

Lots of people care about politics, but most in this country think they have better things to do with their time than worry about what their elected leaders are doing. After all, how are Americans supposed to get excited about politics when all they have is C-SPAN, the best non-prescription sleep aid on the market? We do have political pundits on CNN and other outlets, but we receive information in filtered soundbites washed out by glitzy graphics and animations. And who can really get pumped up listening to Wolf Blitzer or Larry King for hours on end?

We learned Thursday that one of the great musical talents in history passed away. In case you’ve been MIA like Mark Sanford, the pop megastar suffered a heart attack and died at the tender age of fifty. Who knows what the fallout from his passing will be, but one thing is certain: Michael Jackson has touched all of our lives. (more…)

I was a hippie baby. I was raised in the North County of San Diego, mostly Encinitas. Encinitas is my permanent home, no matter how long I am away from it.
That’s awesome. What influenced your decision to become a musician?
Music has been a constant support for me in life. I’ve been singing since I was four or five. As I grew older I tried to focus my attention on other careers and goals, but through the support of others or just through my own wanting, life always lead me back to a career in music, through my voice.

Watching Pete and J, I saw three dudes on stage that sounded like twenty rock stars. No kidding. (more…)

A woman sporting a “Green Love” reusable bag, bandana, brown knit poncho, and TOMS shoes sat down next to me in class last week. I was quite impressed by her bohemian style, as she fashionably exemplified our generation’s notion of “hippie.” As she opened her bag, though, I realized the message she was sending was fake. She had a plastic bag filled with a plastic container of salad and bottled water. (more…)
